Your story
You were once part of Rustbeard's First Contact pirate gang, left on this world to starve to death and rot. Somehow, you've managed to work your way all the way back to the little band of Fleet-crazed Gennai that Rustbeard trained into a mad cult.
There'd always been rumors about Rustbeard's special brand of madness, a ruthless sociopathy useful on some special First Contact assignments. Or, maybe the Fleet just sent them and The Unconventional Introduction off into remote regions where they couldn't do much harm. There had been several successful First Contact missions for the Fleet.
Rustbeard knew how and where to cut deepest. He altered your energy conversion systems, the frelling froahbortlen, forcing you to survive on meat. Preferably, freshly-killed meat, which triggered an entire set of gastric pathways into overdrive, demanding satiation. It shouldn't have been possible to make those kind of changes, but here you were, scavenging for meat, passing up the fruits and vegetables that used to fully sustain you. You've killed to survive.
When you got the relayed ping of an incoming Fleet ship, you knew you were close enough. You'd bargain with Rustbeard, promise anything, to get repaired, returned to a normal diet.
That's not The Unconventional Introduction on the landing pad. It's a different Fleet First Contact team. And, the Gennai are cooking up a feast. With godmeet, Rustbeard's notorious Gennai Cannibalism Stew. It smells so good. You must have it.
So, you broke cover, hurled yourself at the plate, right in front of the two Fleet people, and shoveled as much godmeet into your mouth as possible. It wasn't enough. One of them, probably Grand Entertainer Djenni Rhater, jabbed you with the cable from the Fleet Standard Battery Unit they used to self-shock themselves for Rustbeard's amusement. (Rustbeard gave them all stupid new names, just for fun. They have no idea.)
Even a Fleet Rehabilitation Ship has to be better than this. You need to get off Gennai Prime.
