Your story

You are the head of IT. You've held this job for almost five hundred years and you take it very seriously. You lead a tight knit team of individuals who trust each other. Most of all, you try to always find the middle path ‐ the way that fulfils each person's core needs. It sometimes leads to unconventional arrangements. It often leads to decisions taking a long time. But it works, and that's what counts.

Except now. The Source is being a problem for the entire ship. The Captain called directly, ordering you to fix the problem, as "this is your department." They weren't interested in the details ‐ they and the rest of the crew were busy with Source issues and related malfunctions almost everywhere else.

You are blessed to have two life partners, Mem and Auldron. They could not be more different from each other. Of the many people you know, Mem has truly internalized the principles the Founder stands for. Their calm presence and acceptance of others lends a steady grounding to your life. Auldron on the other hand is outspoken and righteous. Their strong opinions sometimes clash with others but they always stand up for what they think is right. You love them both immensely.

You considered Eshala a friend as well. Their exuberant energy was contagious. You are in a state of shock that someone on the ship has died, although you're hiding that well since you know you need to take care of others in this crisis. You're worried about the mental health of Eshala's spouse Eban and sibling H'leh. They have both lost the pillar that their lives are built around.

You aren't entirely certain what you think the right thing to do is with regards to the virtual afterlife system. The situation is nuanced: the Founder clearly intended for everyone to become a merged consciousness, yet your shipmates were unaware of this. It would personally be quite pleasant to merge with your partners who you love, but you want to honor everyone's needs and desires before your own.

You want to try to see if it's possible to get this group to come to a consensus decision about what to do with the afterlife system and what to do with Source. If you cannot do that, you will still make a decision using your best judgement. You will follow your heart to try to do right by the most people ‐ it's just who you are. You do wonder what Source meant by their cryptic phrase of "Let Go" though.
