Your story

You are Elriot's great great grandparent.

You remember when you were first uploaded. Before you were here you couldn't imagine the wonders that are virtual space. You've been able to dabble in all kinds of different things. Tastes are stronger here, but only when you want them to be. You can live any dream you imagine. You will live forever. Virtual space has been great.

You hadn't meant to go virtual quite as quickly as you did. You got caught up in an electrical fire while you were still in your mid 100s, and it was upload or probable death. That was an easy choice for your doctor, and you have been glad every day for the past thousand years or so that it was made.

You have also appreciated how close you are to your family, from virtual space. They visit you on holidays, and sometimes stop by to ask questions. You've talked to Elriot a lot, through the years; you are also a physicist.

You'll admit, you'd love to be in virtual space with Elriot. The door between virtual and physical is permeable; you've talked to your great great grandchild numerous times, but Elriot will always return home to physical space. Virtually, you'd see Elriot more.

Still, you lived a full meatspace life before uploading into virtual space. Would you take some of that meatspace time for more virtual time? Harel regrets coming to virtual space as early as they did. You've dragged Harel along to help Elriot figure out what their path should be.

You love Elriot. You want what's best for Elriot. You're not sure that's this virtual world, but you're also not sure that it's not.

What matters most is that Elriot is happy.
