Your story
You understand everything in the physical and virtual Universe, except yourself. You are an android programmed with the utmost care, one made to feel and think and perceive just a little different from everyone else, which created a situation in which you cannot parse your own emotions. You feel alien in your own body, but you were made this way by design. You are an experiment in new types of lifeforms, a step in the process of making something different. In practice, you have spent all of your existence uncomfortable with the promise that more iteration will make you better and special. And when that happens, it'll all be worth it. All the discomfort, pain, and otherness you feel will finally go away and you'll be something new. It feels like a dream. You're starting to doubt whether or not it'll become reality.
That's why you're actually considering Abstract Existence. It's almost what you were promised you would become, but not quite. It sounds so nice. A fresh start as something so different from what you are now, it won't be comprehended by you anymore. It'll all be gone.
There is one hold-up though. You are deeply infatuated with your partner Jourdain. You've told them before that they're the only reason you haven't abandoned the Fleet yet, and, once you are complete, you're going to spend the rest of your life together. You don't know if you'd pick Abstract Existence over them, in part because you don't know if you would pick Abstract Existence period. Could you just abandon them like that? You don't even know if you'd ever emotionally recover, if only because your emotions are so different. But maybe that on its own is enough reason to let go. For now, you're just glad your friends are here with you. Tobor has always been fairly grounded in reality, while Allai and Uv'ols seem to understand emotions better than you. Perhaps they can help.
Goals:
- See what Jourdain wants to do. It's a huge plus if they came with you to exist abstractly.
- Decide whether or not you're doing this. There's still a chance you can get what you want while staying as a virtual/physical existence hybrid, or... whatever they're going to make you.
