This is going to take all your First Contact experience, as well as Science Officer Brackett's linguistic and engineering expertise. With the intense gamma and X-ray radiation flooding this region of space, the normal protocols simply do not compute.

You and the Science Officer are going to have to convince the Ryak-Ř to eliminate large sections of their starship before you can extend the Octavia's hyperfield around them. Once you are able to do that, you can bring them safely into hyperspace. (Which can be explained via voice, and which ends the Tale.)

This is going to require finesse and diplomacy when you don't have a common linguistic framework in place. The two of you are going to have to compute a basic syntax with simple but expressive semantics, using a small set of pictorial icons. It's the kind of assignment that the Fleet trusts the Octavia to handle.

In the millions of light-years traveled by the Fleet, this may be the most desperate rescue ever attempted.
