Your story

Favorite Scene: The escape sequence, early in the story, where you've been caught trying to scope out the Crystalline Thrones room. By day, you are mentally downloaded into the body of a random race and gender, with pheremonic diversity, and intense natural desires driven by all that. You must seduce a truly tempting and sexy member of the double-crossing Marauders of Joyous Treachery, Debauchery, and Every Other Cherry -- seduce them to keep away from you, so that they can tell you a story. By night, you must seduce one of the other captives, embracing them with passion, building a lasting love. By the time you are through, you've assembled the entire backstory of the Rogue Magnetar Combat Nuns and formed a loving group strong enough to create an orgy to cover your escape.

It was so sweet of Sonia/2B to take the kernel of one of your favorite exploits and turn it into a significant chapter in the VR storylines. You'd sadly forgotten it. You seem to recall that you and Sonia/2B were intimate, back a couple of millennia ago, but, also sadly, you wouldn't recognize them if they stood right next to you -- that's what more than fifty thousand years of biological life will do to you.

You recognize a lot of the techniques and algorithms that went into the creation of Crystalline Thrones... -- were you a virtual reality designer at some point in your life? You've been a lot of things, including a weird stint as a dentist, but most of the other jobs just give you a sense of deja vu when you encounter them, like inside this immersive reality.

That wide set of experience is how you became a Captain, then a Senior Captain. That work is important to your memory, so you make use of technology and augments to keep Captaincy skills fresh and available. That just means other, older skills and memories are flushed as more immediate Captaincy needs take precedence.

Actually, the more you think about some of the events described in Crystalline Thrones..., the more you think they are riffs on your life experiences. There's some strong deja vu in too many places.

Did you do this? No. According to your logs, it would be highly unlikely you had the time to do so. Not impossible, but you'd remember building this, especially if it was done in the last thousand years. Right?

This Tale ends when you decide what the Fleet is going to do with Crystalline Thrones of the Lustful Pirates of Berg's Quasar. Is it Sonia/2B's work?
